Again a successful "rain and shy" BBQ... : 35 participants, excellent atmosphere and good findings (20 trilobites for Didier Lelubre and beautiful belles calcites covered by pyrite for Michael).

So, It was on Saturday October 30th that we visited for the first time the
Lemay Quarry at Vaulx-Tournai.
A team of 17 participants (including 2
new members) was at the meeting place. After a thick fog on the road the good
weather was with us and each one of us got to work.
The fossils were
found first (trilobites, spirifers, numerous corals, etc...).
Concerning the minerals, they only showed timidly in the inferior level... pyrite microcrystals, plating of fluorite, when
Marcel discovered a beautiful crack which produced pretty calcites of
nice dimensions. As for Gerard, passing along, he discovered the enormous piece of the day,... laying on the ground,...and he offered for
the room of the Circle. Other pretty calcites strewn with small
pyrite crystals were also found.
To summarize, each one found its
happiness and our sharp thanks go to Mr Franklin Luyckx for the permit he granted to us and to its foreman for the small
visit he has made to us on Saturday morning.
